​MAKE YOUR OWN NATURAL NON-TOXIC PERFUMES
REASONS FOR MAKING YOUR OWN NATURAL NON-TOXIC PERFUMES
* They are cheaper than commercial perfumes
* They don't contain alcohol, thus lessening the chance of dermatitis and sensitivity
* They don't contain chemicals which are toxic and/or carcinogenic
* You know exactly the ingredients you have selected
* You can express your creativity and have different perfumes to complement different moods
* So for example they can be invigorating or relaxing
* Some mixtures can be preventative in cold/flu times and can strengthen the immune system
* Good oils to use for perfumes: lemon, neroli, jasmine, rose, patchouli, ylang ylang, mandarine, geranium, frankincense, grapefruit, sandalwood
CAUTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
* Pennyroyal, clove, hyssop, basil €“ not to be used when pregnant
* Rosemary €“ if high blood pressure or epilepsy
* Lavender €“ if low blood pressure €“ and use with caution if asthmatic
* Bergamot/cypress/hypericum/yarrow €“ not when exposed to sun (sensitizes the skin)
* Cinnamon €“ may cause allergies and photosensitivity
HELPFUL TIPS
* never take essential oils orally
* When pregnant only use citrus oils as they won't harm the fetus
* Make little amounts for freshness and variety
* Do not insert fingers into oil to prevent contamination with bacteria or it goes off quicker
* If oil doesn't smell good to you don't use it
* Only add 3 drops of Essential Oil per 5 ml of carrier oil
* Use 1 drop of Essential Oil per 5 ml of carrier oil when making mixtures for babies
* When buying Essential Oils look for the latin name and batch number on bottle to ensure good quality of oil
RECIPES
(quantities are for 20 ml (=4 tbsp) jojoba as carrier oil)
2 drops jasmine, 3 drops patchouli, 5 drops sandalwood €“ sensuous aphrodisiac and mysterious
2 drops neroli, 3 dr. ylang ylang, 5 orange €“ euphoric, lightens mood, relaxes, peace-giving
5 drops patchouli, 3 drops vetiver, 2 drops rose €“ earthing self-finding and relaxing
5 drops lemon, 3 drops rosemary, 2 drops lemongrass refreshing, awakening, invigorating, energetic
5 drops orange, 3 drops mandarin, 2 drops benzoe €“ fruity, gives childhood happiness and removes worries
* It is safe to try different mixes that appeal
* Mixes that don't appeal can be harmful
* Essential Oils have been used for:
o bath mix, jetlag, dermatitis, skin conditions, hair conditions, nausea, first aid
o skin-healing, labour, menstruation problems, pain, and many more

Love how Hypericum make everything pretty and sweet. Plus the colour is giving me a blush ☺☺☺. And I am amazed that Hypericum has medicinal benefits. Another reason to love this blossom and definitely one of my favourite blossoms.
